What is an X-ray?

X-rays are used in medical imaging to detect fractures, infections, tumours, and other abnormalities in bones and tissues. A typical x-ray machine directs a beam of x-rays through the body to a detector on the opposite side, creating an image based on how the x-rays are absorbed by different tissues.

Patient are required to hold still in particular positions to gain quality images.  Whilst x-rays themselves are painless, in some instances, you may experience slight discomfort caused by the position you are required to be placed in during the examination.
